Watchucation
Legal, Copyright & Sourcing Policy
Last updated: June 1, 2026. This page describes how we handle third-party information, trademarks, and user-generated reports.
1. Educational, non-commercial reference
Watchucation is an independent educational platform. All references to watch brands, model names, reference numbers, calibers, and historical events are used nominatively for the purpose of education, commentary, and identification — not to imply endorsement, partnership, or affiliation. We are not affiliated with Rolex, Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, Omega, Seiko, or any other manufacturer mentioned on this site.
2. Trademarks
Brand names, model names, logos, and product designations are trademarks of their respective owners. They are referenced under the nominative-fair-use doctrine to identify the products being discussed. No claim of ownership over any third-party trademark is made.
3. Facts vs. expression — what we publish
Our lessons and quizzes describe facts (specifications, release years, calibers, water-resistance ratings, historical events). Facts are not copyrightable. We deliberately paraphrase, summarise, and re-express all factual material in our own words; we do not reproduce substantial portions of any third-party article, manual, or catalogue. Where a single sentence or short quote would aid clarity, we keep it short, attribute it, and link to the source.
4. How we use web sources (Firecrawl & curated DB)
When live web cross-referencing is enabled, Watchucation may query public search results via Firecrawl to surface citations alongside our curated database. We:
- store only URLs, page titles, and short descriptive snippets (≤200 characters);
- never republish full article bodies, images, or paywalled content;
- respect
robots.txtand standard crawler etiquette via the Firecrawl service; - link directly to the original source so users can read it in context;
- use snippets only to help the AI corroborate verified facts, not as content for end users.
5. Images
Watch photographs uploaded by users for identification are processed only to produce the scan result and are not republished, shared, or used to train models. Hero and stock imagery on this site is either original, licensed, or AI-generated.
6. Accuracy & community reports
Watch data evolves. Despite citation and verification layers, errors happen. Every lesson lists its sources and every quiz question can be flagged via the “Report this question” button. Reports go to our editorial queue and are reviewed before content is updated.
7. No investment or authentication advice
Market price bands, rarity scores, and authenticity hints are educational estimates generated from public reference data and AI analysis. They are not a formal appraisal, an authentication certificate, or financial advice. Always consult an authorised dealer or an independent watchmaker before buying, selling, or insuring a watch.
8. Takedown requests
If you are a rights-holder and believe content on Watchucation infringes your copyright or trademark, contact us with the specific URL and the material in question. We act on valid notices promptly.
